The Minnesota Vikings will suspend special teams coordinator Mike Priefer three regular season games for inappropriate conduct, after they conducted an investigation on allegations by former Viking’s punter Chris Kluwe
The suspension can be reduce to two games barring Preifer completes sensitivity training according to USAtoday.com. The Vikings will also make a donation to LGBT causes in the amount of $100,000.
The suspension comes in response to Kluwe and his lawyer clearly expressing their intent to file a lawsuit against the Minnesota Vikings. Kluwe asked the team to suspend Priefer for four to eight games, and make a $1 million donation the LGBT causes according to Profootballtalk.com.
Kluwe alleged that Priefer made homophobic remarks before the Vikings cut Kluwe in May 2013. Kluwe believes his active role as a voice for LGBT issues lead to his termination with the Vikings.
"They had that opportunity (to settle). They didn't take advantage of it. There will be litigation. The first thing we'll request is a copy of the full report and we are going to do our best to make it public," Kluwe’s attorney said.
It is unknown whether the suspension will affect Priefer’s job after the upcoming season.
