There was some activity with the Minnesota Timberwolves on Monday, and it did not involve Kevin Love, who has been the topic of a lot of discussion recently as to when and to whom he will be traded. However, Monday’s news centered around the Timberwolves adding free agent guard Mo Williams.
Williams signed a one-year deal worth $3.75 million. Williams, who turns 32 in December, has been with five different NBA franchises, reports FOX Sports.
His best years of his career came between the 2006-07 season and the 2010-11 season. In that five-year span, he averaged at least 14.0 points per game every year. In 2009, he posted a career-high 17.8 points per contest and was named to the Eastern Conference All-Star team as a member of the Cleveland Cavaliers, according to basketball-reference.com .
In his two full seasons, with the Cavs, Williams teamed up with LeBron James. The team went 127-37 those two years, claiming the top seed in the East both seasons.
With the acquisition of Williams, the Timberwolves add to their plethora of guards. They now have five guards on their roster.
They may include one or two of these players in a trade involving Love. Two of the more likely players to be added to a potential deal are J.J. Barea and Kevin Martin.
