Nashville Predators center and alternate captain Mike Fisher will be out for four to six months after rupturing his Achilles tendon.
The Predators President of Hockey Operations and general manager David Poile released a statement on the team’s website about Fisher’s injury.
“Predators forward and alternate captain Mike Fisher sustained a ruptured Achilles tendon during a training session and underwent a successful surgery on Thursday, July 3. We expect Mike to make a full recovery in four-to-six months, and look forward to his return to the ice.”
Poile isn’t worried about losing an important player in Fisher, according to the Tennessean.
“I hope we have enough depth,” he said. “We will give certain guys a chance to be successful and give mike a chance to get back.”
Last season, Fisher finished with 49 points, which was the fourth most on the team and averaged 19:45 minutes of ice time per game, according to the NHL.
Fisher was traded to the Predators in 2011 from the Ottawa Senators and has 133 points in 212 games during his time with the team.
