If a scientist came up to you and told you they had find your perfect match for a relationship, would you believe them? More than that, would you be willing to marry that person without ever meeting them?
This is the premise for FYI’s newest reality show titled Marriage at First Sight. Six individuals, three soon to be couples, have decided to take the plunge and will get married in a legal ceremony where they first meet their partner. The couple will then test our their marriage for six weeks and after then they can choose to stay together or get a divorce at the shows cost reports Examiner.
In order to create this “scientific matchmaking”, a sexologist, spiritualist, psychologist, anthropologist and sociologist have worked together to create these three “perfect” couples. Gray Epstein, the humanist chaplain at Harvard University, told The Huffington Post that, “This is not to promote arranged marriage. The show is trying to get people to think in a different way on how they are choosing potential partners."
The series premiered Tuesday, July 8th at 9pm EST on FYI.
