As Independence-Day weekend rolls along, the Carmelo Anthony news keeps on hitting us like the heat of summer; and the question of whether New York Knicks president Phil Jackson would take Anthony back at the max seems to now be answered.

Frank Isola, of the New York Daily News, has reported that Carmelo Anthony will indeed accept the Knicks offer of five-years $129 million, according to CBSSports.com.

On Thursday night in Los Angeles, Anthony came away very pleased with the plan that Knicks president Phil Jackson laid out for the franchise, and it seems that meeting went a long way in determining his future.

Isola is also reporting that the official decision could be made in the next 48-hours.

All along Anthony is claiming that the shot of playing for a championship far out-weighs money. If this is the case, and he does sign for the absolute max, then many New York fans will have many questions regarding Anthony’s real sentiment about those feelings.

Signing the five-year $129 million deal will make it more difficult for Jackson to fit pieces around the scoring super-star who’s averaged 25.3 PPG for his career, according to BasketballReference.com. If Anthony follows through with the signing, then the summer of 2015 will be a very important time for the franchise as big free-agents loom.
