The New York Mets won in a non-competitive game against the Phillies Monday night, 7-1.

New York got off to an early lead and never looked back from that point. In the first inning, the Mets scored four runs to make the lead 4-0, notes ESPN.

Travis d'Arnaud had a great night at the plate. He had three extra-base hits, and he went yard in the fifth inning, according to MLB.com. It was a three-run shot that gave the Mets full control of the game.

With the victory against a long-time division rival, the Mets have grabbed the first game out of the three game set against the Phillies. The series ends Wednesday. The Mets are still seven and a half games out of first place in the National League Eastern Division.

They are also six full games behind a Wild Card birth. The Mets look to extend a two-game winning streak they are on so they can clime up the ladder for a contending spot in the playoffs.
