Vampire couple on screen and exes off, Nina Dobrev and Ian Somerhalder admit to still being friendly despite their breakup.

Dobrev opened up to Nylon magazine about being kind to everyone, even exes.

"I don't like any kind of negativity. I try to be good to everyone, whether it's a love, a friend, an ex. I'll always try to treat people the way I want to be treated."

Ian Somerhalder, Dobrev’s on-again-off-again love both on and off-screen confirmed the actress’s statement.

"She always lets me have the last fry."

The couple are now on their sixth season of their supernatural show The Vampire Diaries, playing Elena Gilbert and Damon Salvatore. On the show, Elena falls in love with Damon even though he is her ex’s brother. In real life, Dobrev and Somerhalder dated for three years before breaking up in 2013, according to TheCelebrityCafe.com.

Dobrev is currently working on several films, The Final Girls and Let’s Be Cops. In Let’s Be Cops, Dobrev has to branch out from her dramatic acting for a comedic role.

"It’s terrifying,” Dobrev told Nylon. “I can get to an emotional place and start crying, but there’s pressure when you think you have to be funny….You really have to be uninhibited and fearless.”

Let’s Be Cops will be released later this year while horror film The Final Girls is set to come out in 2015.
