July has been quite a month for Serbian tennis player Novak Djokovic. On July 6, he won his second Wimbledon title in a five-set marathon with Roger Federer. Four days later, Djokovic married his high school sweetheart Jelena Ristic.
The wedding took place near a beach close to Montenegro islet Sveti Stefan, a luxury resort.
It was a small affair, limited to family and close friends. Some notable guests include Djokovic's coach Marjan Vajda and Russian tennis player Maria Sharapova, reports The New Zealand Herald.
Djokovic and Ristic are expecting their first child later this year.
When Djokovic, who is ranked No. 1 in the world, won the Wimbledon championship on Sunday, he dedicated the victory to Ristic and their future child, according to The Associated Press.
The affair was kept very secretive, which is why the couple chose such a remote place, as a way of keeping the paparazzi away. Furthermore, the employees of the resort signed gag orders and were prohibited from carrying cameras or cell phones.
Many celebrities have frequented the resort, including Richard Burton, Elizabeth Taylor, Kirk Douglas and Orson Welles.
Djokovic plans to take a little time off to concentrate on his new family.
