The Ottawa Senators have re-signed goaltender Robin Lehner to a three-year contract.
According to the Ottawa Sun, the deal will be worth an average of $2.225 per season. The actual amount he will earn each year of his contract will be $1.5 million in 2014-2015, $2.025 million in 2015-2016 and $3.15 million in 2016-2017.
Last season, he played in 36 games and had a record of 12-15-6. He had a 3.06 goals-against-average and a .913 save percentage, according to NHL.com.
Lehner is expected to be Craig Anderson’s backup once more this season, before eventually taking over the starting spot for the Senators.
Anderson has one year remaining on his contract and there have been no contract discussions with him or his agent.
During the 2010-2011 Calder Cup, the American Hockey League’s post-season tournament, Lehner led the Senators minor league team to the championship and won the Jack A. Butterfield Trophy as the playoff MVP.
Lehner was the Senators second-round pick in 2009. He has a career record of 21-24-10 with a 2.83 GAA and a .918 save percentage in 61 games.
