The Flash, like the CW’s other DC Comics series Arrow, will also feature multiple heroes from the rich DC universe. Robbie Amell, who happens to be Arrow star Stephen Amell’s cousin, has joined the new series to play Firestorm.

Amell will play Ronnie Raymond, a maintenance worker at STAR Labs and will make his debut in The Flash’s third episode, reports The Hollywood Reporter. He is also the fiance of Caitlin Snow, played by Danielle Panabaker.

The Flash is fronted by Grant Gustin, who plays Barry Allen. It turns out that Ronnie has a role in the accident that gives Barry his super-speedy powers.

Amell should also be a familiar face to regular CW viewers. He starred in the short-lived The Tomorrow People, which was produced by The Flash’s Greg Berlanti. In a statement, Berlanti said that they already began designing the series with the Firestorm character in mind.

“I'm so excited to join forces with Greg Berlanti and The CW again on The Flash,” Amell told THR. “Being brought into the DC Universe is a dream, I can't wait to get started!”

Firestorm will be another DC Comics character that has rarely been seen outside of the comics jumping to The CW. Earlier this week, Brandon Routh, who starred in Superman Returns, will star in Arrow as Ray Palmer/The Atom.

According to TV Line, Amell has also been seen on other short-lived shows, like 1600 Penn and Zach Stone Is Gonna Be Famous. Hopefully The Flash, which starts on Oct. 7, will live on longer.
