The Houston Rockets are reportedly finalizing a deal that would send Jeremy Lin to the Los Angeles Lakers as the team looks to clear cap space as they try to land free agent Chris Bosh.
A source spoke with Yahoo Sports' Adrian Wojnarowski, who tweeted, that a deal is in the offing and that the Rockets will send Lin, along with a future first-round pick and draft considerations to Los Angeles, in exchange, the Rockets will receive cash and rights to an overseas player. Houston, however, will not receive any salary back as part of the deal.
Moving Lin and his somewhat bloated contract off the books will help make it easier to sign Bosh to a max deal as the other interesting party from the Big 3 looks elsewhere with the Miami Heat no longer a contender. Woj tweeted that the 6-foot-11 forward is reportedly set to sit down with Rockets coach Kevin McHale "soon."
As previously reported, the Rockets were said to be offering a max deal of four years and north of $80 million to Bosh, who looked like he would only leave Miami if LeBron James took his talents elsewhere.
Should Bosh decide to sign with the Rockets, they would become more of a formidable Western Conference team with their own Big 3 of James Harden, Dwight Howard and Bosh.
