Novak Djokovic has earned a spot in the Wimbledon final for the second year in a row after an exciting semi-final against Grigor Dimitrov. He will be playing against Roger Federer who took the semifinal against Milos Raonic in three sets.
Djokovic defeated Dimitrov in four sets, with a final score of 6-4, 3-6, 7-6, 7-6. After the two exhilarating tiebreakers that ended the match, the players received a standing ovation from the crowd, reported the New York Times. And among the crowd was Dimitrov’s girlfriend and tennis star Maria Sharapova.
After his victory, Djokovic said that he was “pleased to be part of another entertaining match,” according to Reuters.
Federer knew to look out for Raonic’s serve heading into the match. “Here clearly on the grass with a serve like that it’s never going to be an easy match,” Federer told the Associated Press before the semifinal.
The final will be Federer’s ninth one at Wimbledon. It will take place on Sunday.
