If you can’t find a new face, why not bring back an old familiar one? That appears to be what ABC might be thinking by bringing back Rosie O’Donnell for The View. Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin has also been rumored to be interested in replacing the outgoing Sherri Shepherd and Jenny McCarthy.

O’Donnell is already in talks with the show’s producers to come back, TMZ claims. Sources for Us Weekly and Entertainment Tonight also backed up the report, with Us Weekly saying that she is in “serious” talks.

“Rosie is very close to signing,” a source told Us Weekly. “They aren't seriously auditioning anyone else until the deal is done, because Rosie will get a major say [in her co-hosts].”

That makes it sound as if O’Donnell is going to be signed first. Then, the producers will look for other big names that who could work well with the opinionated O’Donnell on the talk show.

One possibility might be Palin, who said in an interview this month that she would be interested in the show. Entertainment Tonight’s sources said that the former Republican Vice Presidential candidate is in early talks.

At the moment, Whoopi Goldberg is the only host returning for another season of The View. The show’s significant changes began when Barbara Walters began her retirement. Then, after rumors and tweets, Shepherd and McCarthy confirmed their departures.

O’Donnell infamously ended her first tenure on The View in 2007 with an argument with Elisabeth Hasselbeck. The comedian has stayed away from The View, but she did make an appearance in February for Walters.
