San Diego Padres center fielder Cameron Maybin received a 25-game suspension without pay after testing positive for amphetamines. Maybin is the firs major league player to be suspended for PED use this season. This is Maybin’s second time testing positive for PEDs.

"I have been undergoing treatment for several years for a medical condition, attention deficit disorder (ADD), for which I previously had a therapeutic use exemption (TUE),'' Maybin said in a prepared statement. "Unfortunately, in my attempts to switch back to a medicine that had been previously OK'd, I neglected to follow all the rules and as a result I tested positive.

Maybin assured fans that he was trying to treat his condition and in no way gain an advantage on the baseball diamond. The Padres called up outfielder Jeff Francoeur from Triple-A El Paso according to USA Today.

Maybin has been a bit of a disappointment since signing a five-year $25 million contract in 2012. Last season he played just 14 games due to knee and wrist injuries, and is hitting just .247 with one home run and nine RBIs this season according to ESPN.
