Sean Hayes’ NBC show crashed and burned last year, so he’s going to try out for a part on one of last year’s success stories, The Millers. CBS has announced that the former Will & Grace star will be joining the hit show’s sophomore season.
Hayes has been cast to play Kip Withers, a new best friend for Margo Martindale's character, Carol Miller. Nathan, played by Will Arnett, isn’t going to be happy with this relationship.
“After years of being a fan and hearing from others how wonderful he is to work with, I couldn’t be more excited about Sean Hayes joining The Millers,” series creator Greg Garcia said in a statement. “The thought of he and Margo Martindale as BFFs makes me smile every time I think about it. We’re only just getting started, and writing this season’s stories has been a blast.”
Hayes won an Emmy for playing Jack McFarland for eight years on Will & Grace. He has mostly appeared on NBC, with roles in Smash and Up All Night. Last season, he headlined Sean Saves The World, but the show earned low ratings and was canceled.
He has also appeared on the big screen in The three Stooges, The Bucket List and Pieces of April.
The Millers, which also stars Beau Bridges, was one of only two new CBS sitcoms that survived the 2013-2014 TV season. The other was Anna Faris’ Mom, which will also return in the fall.
