The Seattle Seahawks signed former New York Giants cornerback Terrell Thomas on Monday. Thomas played for Seahawks coach Pete Carroll at the University of Southern California from 2004 to 2007.

Thomas, 29, was selected by the Giants in the second round of the 2008 NFL draft as a promising shutdown cornerback. However Thomas’ career has included three ACL surgeries and several other knee injuries. His injuries cost home all of the 2011 and 2012 seasons according to ESPN.

Thomas played all 16 games for the Giants in 2009 and 2010 where he accumulated 10 interceptions, forced five fumbles and had 34 passes defended. Thomas tallied 67 tackles in his final season with New York. Thomas totaled 12 interceptions in his six years with New York, and a Super Bowl ring in the 2011 season.

Thomas will look to fill in for Walter Thurmond who signed with the Giants this offseason. Thomas has comeback from knee injuries to reinvent himself as a slot cornerback according to New Jersey Online.
