He’s coming back. Guard Sebastian Telfair is returning to the NBA after signing a one-year deal with the Oklahoma City Thunder.
The deal is a non-guaranteed deal. Telfair was the 13th pick in the 2004 NBA draft and was drafted by the Portland Trail Blazers. He will make the veteran’s minimum, which is $1.31 million, according to Fox Sports. Last season he played in the Chinese Basketball Association. He averaged 26 points and 5.9 assist in the Chinese league.
Telfair has played nine seasons in the NBA. In those nine seasons he played for seven teams, including the Trail Blazers, Minnesota Timberwolves, Phoenix Suns and the Toronto Raptors. The Thunder would be the eighth team that he has played for. He has never spent more than two seasons with an NBA team.
The last time he played in the NBA Telfair played for the Suns and Raptors. His best season in the NBA came in 2008-09 when he was playing for the Timberwolves. In that season he averaged 9.3 points, 5.9 assists, and 2.3 rebounds, according to USA Today. Telfair has a career average of 7.4 points and 3.5 assists per game in the NBA.
Telfair signing with the Thunder is a good move as the Thunder need a guard. They lost backup guard Derek Fisher who took a coaching job, and they aren’t expected to resign Thabo Sefolosha.
