Selena Gomez has posted a heartfelt response to a fan’s hateful comment on Instagram.

According to GossipCop, the fan wrote out a malicious comment that has since been removed on one of the 21-year-old singer’s photos. The comment included inappropriate and insensitive remarks about cancer.

Gomez is known for her vehement support for anti-bullying campaigns, so it may not be surprising to some fans that she took the opportunity to respond and condemn such behavior in a courteous way. Selena captioned the screenshot of her response with an explanation of why she chose to post it.

“Honestly, I don’t speak up much because it’s simply *always* taken out of context,” she wrote. “But I don’t take bullying well. I have seen too much to not say anything.”

While the fan in question has since deleted her account, Gomez has chosen to keep the post online. “The comment you left about cancer was absurd. How distasteful of a young woman,” she said. “I have gone through that battle with fans and family members. You can dislike someone but to wish something that could happen to you or your family is uncalled for sweetheart.”

After mentioning the gravity of the bully’s comment, Gomez went ahead and asked the girl to think about her actions and make a change. “You won’t be winning ‘anyone’s’ heart that way. Trust me. Educate yourself a tad more. God bless love. Be an amazing woman. You’re beautiful,” she signed the post.

Selena has been airing a lot of her personal business on Instagram lately. The singer’s rocky relationship with Justin Bieber may be the reason for her recent barrage on social media.

What do you think of Selena’s response? Was it necessary for her to post it on her own account rather than handing the issue privately?
