Syfy has just jumped the sharknado. The official trailer for Sharknado 2: The Second One is now available for all to bask in its meta, sarcastic glory.
The premise behind the original Sharknado is that waters spouts picked sharks out of the ocean and flooded Los Angeles with the creatures. The destruction in the new film will shift from Los Angeles to New York.
Ian Ziering and Tara Reid reprise their roles as Fin and April, respectively. They will be joined by Vivica A. Fox, Kelly Osbourne and Andy Dick. Matt Lauer, Al Roker and Perez Hilton will be making cameos.
The schlocky original became an instant cult hit. The Star-Ledger reported that, thanks to social media buzz, Sharknado transcended its made-for-TV status and enjoyed a brief theatrical run.
The film will premiere on Syfy on Wednesday, July 30. If it doesn’t quench your thirst for schlocky sharks, don’t worry. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Syfy has announced a third film.
