Since the turn of the century alien movies have been coming out one after another. Recently a lot of films have been putting a bright and comedic side to most alien roles. A great example of this is the soon to come Marvel adventure Guardians of the Galaxy (2014). It is set to come out early in August. While it is mainly an action/adventure film it has a lot of comic relief between Bradley Cooper’s character Rocket Raccoon and Chris Pratt’s leadership role. Another notable actor in the film, John C. Reilly, is known for his comedic brilliance.

Inspired by the production of this film this is a list of the ten funniest aliens ever to hit the big screen. Some of these aliens are green, some are not and some are even gigantic transforming robots. With that said, each of these following big screen characters has their own personality and adds some humor in their own way.

Without any further ado, the ten funniest on screen aliens of all time:

[new page = 10. E.T., E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial, 1982]

E.T. isn’t what most people would call a laugh out loud comedy but he is the original friendly alien. He led the way for every single alien on this list. Without him who knows where science fiction films would be today. With that said his chemistry with Drew Barrymore was one of the most adorable and comedic relationships to date.

[new page = 9. Skids/Mudflap, Transformers Revenge of the Fallen, 2009]

Transformers Revenge of the Fallen
For anyone who is a big fan of the Transformers films, they will never forget Skids and Mudflap. They are not the biggest nor are they the smartest transformers but they sure know how to get a good laugh. A lot of their comedy comes from insulting each other and their talks with Shia LaBeouf’s short time college roommate.

[new page = 8. Worms, Men in Black II, 2002]

Men in Black II
The Worms are aliens that have come to earth and don’t particularly plan on leaving. They have made friends with the Men in Black and happen to help them out near the end of the second movie. They also love to joke around. They are most famous for taking care of Rosario Dawson and pulling out twister. They are just loud and obnoxious but they use that to generate their comedy.

[new page = 7. Stich, Lilo & Stitch, 2002]

Lilo & Stitch
The only cartoon to make the list Stich is simply a confused ‘monster’ who is taught about family values from a young Hawaiian girl. With that said Stich’s character is basically a child because he was created less than a year before arriving on Earth. He is constantly playing pranks and joking around with people and that is almost how he fights. He simply does the unexpected.

[new page = 6. Beldar Conehead, Coneheads, 2003]

Coneheads
The Coneheads are hilarious. They are so bizarre that they are funny. How people do not realize they are aliens is beyond me and it kind of adds to the comedic value of the film. They are quick but quiet talkers and walk ridiculously. Dan Aykroyd is a funny guy but he completely transforms himself for this role. He is funniest when interacting with others.

[new page = 5. Jamarcus, The Watch, 2012]

The Watch
Jamarcus is posing as a human but is actually an alien… (Spoiler alert) He is very funny because he is just so lame that when he says the bizarre things he says viewers almost have to take a step back and think about what he just said. Honestly just his face is funny when he gets happy and makes ridiculous comments.

[new page = 4. Frank the Pug, Men in black, 1997]

Men in Black
Frank the Pug has a foul mouth and a dirty mind. He is a K-9 alien and is very obscene. The connection him and Will Smith have is hilarious. He provides a lot of comic relief in situations that seem grim. He takes the role as man’s best friend and tries turns it into Man’s most annoying companion but for the viewer it is simply hilarious.

[new page = 3. The Martians, Mars Attacks, 1996]

Mars Attacks
The Martians don’t talk much but just the sounds of their voices are funny. They don’t speak English just kinda make noises to communicate. Other than that the things they do is very funny such as the way they attack people and how their own heads blow up from the oldies country song. This is just an overall very funny movie but the Martians really make it into a classic.

[new page = 2. Barf, Spaceballs, 1986]

Spaceballs
Half man half dog, Barf is his own best friend. John Candy is hilarious in almost all of his roles but this is one of his ageless characters. Spaceballs is a knockoff of Star Wars and Barf provides a lot of comic relief in an already funny film. He delivers so many classic one liners that it is hard to keep count. His funniest moments come through his relationship with the robot woman.

[new page = 1. Paul, Paul, 2011]

Paul
Paul is one of Seth Rogen’s best performances. He curses a lot, makes sexual references and is always trying to lighten the mood. This films plays off a lot of the typical alien stereotypes such as probing. Along with Simon Pegg and Nick Frost this is one of the funniest films since the turn of the century. A lot of the reason for Paul’s humor is because Seth Rogen has such a funny voice.
