On last night’s dramatic season finale of The Bachelorette, Andi got engaged to her dream man, while the other was left heartbroken.

The episode began with Nick and Josh meeting Andi’s family. There’s not really too much to report here—both guys were super nervous, asked for her dad’s permission to propose and both got the family’s approval. So pretty much, the final decision was left in Andi’s hands.

After meeting the family, the men each had their final one-on-one date with Andi before proposal time. First, Josh and Andi went on a romantic yacht ride around the Caribbean.

Although there was a clear magnetic connection between the two, Andi still expressed her doubts in voiceovers throughout the date. “I definitely overanalyze it and have doubts. My brain definitely thinks, ‘Is this too good to be true?’” she said.

Josh, on the opposite end of the spectrum, seemed more than ready to propose and kept talking about it with Andi. She told Josh she worries that after their honeymoon stage ends, there won’t be anything left.

He reassured Andi’s doubts with a heartfelt handwritten letter and a handmade ‘Andi Murray’ baseball card (Murray is Josh’s last name).

“It’s a very grand gesture and solidifies everything he’s said up to this point. A guy doesn’t put his last name on a girl if he isn’t ready for this,” Andi said.

Nick had a lot to live up to the next day on his date with Andi.

They went off-roading around the Dominican Republic and had a picnic in the wilderness near a private lagoon.

Andi kept saying how when she’s with Nick, she thinks so deeply and has such intellectual conversations with him. Yet, she never seems to let down her hair and have childish fun with him like she does with Josh.

Nick said if he didn’t feel like his love was reciprocated at the end of the date, he wouldn’t propose to Andi. When Nick told Andi how nervous he was about everything, she reassured him and told him to “turn your brain off and instead of think, feel.”

After their date, Nick felt confident in their relationship and is ready to propose.

However, the next day, when someone knocks at Nick’s door, everything changes.

Nick was expecting the guest to be Neil Lane, delivering diamond rings for him to pick out for Andi. Unfortunately, it was Andi at the door.

Nick’s draw dropped to the floor when he saw her. He definitely knew what was coming. A Bachelorette doesn’t show up at one of the guy’s front door on proposal day unless she’s bearing bad news.

“I was thinking a lot about what you said at night and didn’t sleep and thought about how you said the last time you got engaged you woke up that morning and you didn’t feel something was right. And I woke up this morning and didn’t feel that something was right. I can’t go through with something that I don’t think is right,” Andi said.

Nick was stunned and in silence. “Honestly, the last date I wanted to just have fun and relax. As hard as I tried, I couldn’t do that with you. We overanalyze everything. A life with you would be overanalyzing every single moment,” she added.

After Andi left in tears, Nick was still in shock. On the car ride to the airport, he sat in complete disbelief and shook his head.

After the heartbreaking goodbye, Andi was anxious to see Josh. Would he propose and would she say yes? The answer to both questions—yes!

Josh spewed off his long, memorized proposal speech and after, Andi said, “I am madly in love with you! You are it. You’re the one I want to spend the rest of my life with and have babies with!”

So, it all ended with happily ever after. Except for Nick, that is.

According to host Chris Harrison, after filming, Nick could not get over Andi. He actually stalked her on a vacation in Mexico, in hopes of talking about the breakup. Andi refused to see him.

Then, Nick flew out to Los Angeles for the Men Tell All taping, once again hoping that he could get the chance to talk things out with Andi. Once again, she refused. Nick came prepared this time with a letter which Chris passed on to Andi.

Finally, after the long wait, Nick had the chance to sit with Andi face-to-face on After the Final Rose.

Nick said he was confused because he felt like Andi made it clear that she loved him back.

Andi said: “At the end of the day, I know it sounds harsh, but how do you compete with a greater love? There is nothing wrong with what Nick did, except something else was more right. I know that’s tough to say and I probably should have said that months ago. It’s very tough to say to someone’s face, but at the end of the day, that’s the truth.”

Nick’s shot back and his true colors shined through when he made public some private information.

“If you weren’t in love with me, I’m not sure why you made love with me,” he said. “To me, that night was like fiancé kind of stuff.” Woah.

Despite Nick’s below the belt attack, Andi wasn’t going to let him stop her from basking in the glory of being newly engaged. She wore her huge Neil Lane diamond on her left ring finger and excitedly talked about her future with Josh.

Apparently the couple only lives five minutes from each other in Atlanta. “It’s really fate,” they agreed.

Although they plan on enjoying being engaged for a while, the couple hopes for a spring wedding in the near future.

This season of The Bachelorette ended with what appears to be true love. Although there have been hints to who the next Bachelor may be (Farmer Chris), no official announcements have been made.

While this season is over, you can still get your Bachelor fix starting next Monday when Bachelor in Paradise airs on ABC!
