Although The Simpsons have been well liked by the Emmy community for a number of years, it appears that this year, they were not as loving as they were before. For the first time since 1994, The Simpsons has not been nominated for best animated series.

In Variety's rundown of surprises and snubs from this year's Emmy nominations, they noted that lack of Simpsons love from the awards. Taking the place of the Matt Groening show was Archer, Bob's Burgers, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, last year's winner South Park and the final season of another Groening show, Futurama.

Considering that at least one of his shows remained on the list, it is probably not a crushing disappointment for Groening, and he may not even go home empty handed this year. Still, the fact that the show's 20 year running title was taken down is a bit surprising, to say the least.

Of course, besides Variety, everyone and their brother has a list of shows and actors that they consider snubbed or deserving, including writers here on the site. I know I personally have been complaining to many of my friends about the lack of appreciation given to Christopher Evan Welch from Silcon Valley, Dean Norris of Breaking Bad and, as always, Danny Pudi of Community.
