Country music superstar Tim McGraw had remained quiet about an altercation he had with a woman during a show that was captured on video until now. He said that it was a completely instinctive reaction on his part.

As previously reported, a video of McGraw performing “Truck Yeah” at his recent Atlanta concert showed the Grammy winner walking down a central platform, giving high-fives to his fans. One particular fan didn’t get enough gratification from one high-five and looked to get another as McGraw bent down. He was clearly annoyed and appears to slap the woman away. She is later dragged away by security.

“He instinctively swatted to try to keep them from ripping his jeans (which they succeeded at doing!), and so he could get to more fans who could slap hands with him before the end of the show,” a rep for McGraw told TMZ.

In an interview with ET Canada, McGraw repeated what his rep said. It was merely an instinctive reaction at the time.

“Sometimes things can lose context and perspective. I reacted in an instinctive, defensive way from my perspective of what was going on,” McGraw said. “I think it was an unfortunate situation I think all the way around.”

McGraw said that it was an unfortunate thing that happened and “nobody feels good about it, but there’s nothing that could be done about it.” In other words, McGraw is done talking about it.

McGraw also told ET Canada that he doesn’t pay attention to rumors that he and Faith Hill are going to get a divorce. “Look, since we've been together, we've been getting divorced the next year. We're used to it,” he said. “We don't pay that much attention to it.”

The singer is currently promoting Sundown Heaven Town, which will be out in September.
