A Bronx Tale was a film that was released in 1993. It is a story based on Calogero Anello growing up in a rough neighborhood in the Bronx, New York during the 1960’s. Calogero idolizes a gangster figure named Sunny Lospecchio and grows closer to him as he grows into a teenager.
His father, Lorenzo Anello, does not approve of his son Calogero becoming closer to Sunny. Despite his father’s concerns, Calogero hangs around Sunny anyways. In the film Sunny and Lorenzo are Calogero’s two father figures. Lorzeno is a disciplinarian who wants the best for his son, and Sunny gives the young teenager lessons of the streets.

Robert De Niro made his directorial debut and stared in the film with Chazz Palminteri. Palminteri originally created A Bronx Tale as a one-man Broadway show. After De Niro witnessed the show in New York City, the two men collaborated to ultimately create the film version of the Broadway show.

This is a scene were Calogero asks Sunny the difference between being loved and feared. This is one of many scenes were Sunny gives teenage Calogero a perspective of what his life is really like. Sunny treats Calogero like a son, and as a result Calogero paying attention to every word Sunny is saying to him.

Lorenzo explains to his little boy Calogero that the workingman is the real tough guy. He tries to teach young Calogero a tough lesson that Sunny is not the type of person he should hang around because what Sunny does for a living is not safe.

This is a scene were Sunny and a bunch of his wise guy friends are questioned about a crime that was committed. Young Calogero is asked by police to identify who had done the crime. Calogero looks at his father, and then looks at Sunny multiple times. The little boy does not say who had done the crime.

Young Calogero is having dinner with his mother and father. Calogero does not want to have the dinner his mom prepared for the family. His father explains to him that he works really hard everyday so that the family can afford to have a steak dinner every once in a while.

This is a scene were for the first time teenage Calogero meets Jane on the bus. They do not speak, however they cannot stop breaking eye contact with each other. His father is driving the bus at the time, and Calogero tunes him out because he cannot stop looking at Jane. The only problem was she was black and he was white. During that time period a white person liking a black person was extremely controversial.

Calogero explains to Jane that he does not care what anybody says or thinks. He wants to be with her no matter what racial barriers there are between the two teenagers. Also, he is very happy because she passes the door test in this scene. Saying to her that he knew she was one of the great ones.

This scene is the backdrop of the film. It depicts the 1960’s in the Bronx, New York. Also, the song “I Wonder Why” is played during the opening credits. “I Wonder Why” is a song sung by Dion and The Belmonts.

This is the first scene were Calogero and Sunny meet. Sunny tells a young Calogero that he should not care about the New York Yankees. He says to Calogero he should not care about Mickey Mantle because he does not pay his rent.

Calogero is in a basement with Sunny and his trouble making wise guy peers. Sunny has little Calogero throw dice for good luck. He ends up doing very well for Sunny and making him a lot of money.

A teenager named Loui is dodging Calogero because he owes him $20. Sunny explains to him that he should not use violence as the answer. Sunny says if the person was not a good friend then it should not matter if he owed him $20.
