Jennifer Lawrence is no stranger to media attention surrounding her body. She is well known for her blasé attitude toward dieting and exercise, yet she still looks equally stunning on the way to the supermarket as on the way to a red carpet event.

In fact, Lawrence most recently served as Miss Indiana’s body image inspiration. What’s the 23-year-old mega-star’s secret to getting into shape for her more physically demanding roles? Consistent exercise, of course.

According to a recent interview with Teen Vogue, renowned sports medicine figure Dr. Joe Horrigan trained JLaw when she had to get into fighting physical shape for Catching Fire. While most of us aren’t exactly training to kick major butt in the arena, Dr. Horrigan did mention a couple of tips to help fans emulate Lawrence’s journey to physical fitness. According to Horrigan, 20 minutes a day is enough to get your blood pumping if you do it correctly.

Cardio is the most basic—and most important—element when trying to get into shape. "Running, cycling (road, mountain, classes, or simply a regular stationary bike), or various aerobic classes such as dance classes and hiking," are all great examples of cardio listed by Dr. Horrigan. He suggests 20 minutes of high intensity cardio followed by a five-minute warm-up.

Then comes strength training; building muscle is important to sustain a healthy metabolism (and help you get through your cardio without injury!) Dr. Horrigan suggests circuit training—or alternating exercises—with basic moves like "bodyweight squats, push-ups and sit-ups all performed in a circuit. You could also add jumping rope," he said "If you can do any of these exercises for 20 minutes at high intensity, you will see results."

Dr. Horrigan also suggests doing light exercise on off-days to keep your body moving. No wonder Jennifer Lawrence was able to do so well in the arena the second time around!
