Extant was neither helped nor hurt by the new Wednesday night slot in the ratings, while The CW saw Penn & Teller: Fool Us get off to a solid start for the network.
NBC topped the night with a 1.5 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 7.5 million viewers. America's Got Talent slid slightly to a 2.2 rating, HitFix reports, while Taxi Brooklyn was steady with a 1.1 demo rating.
CBS came in second, tying NBC in the demo, but lagging far behind in total audience with 5.71 million viewers. Big Brother was even with a 2.2 rating, but the network is likely disappointed that a change up for Halle Berry's Extant bore no fruit. The science fiction event series held even from last week with a 1.1 rating.
Fox was a distant third for the night with a 1.1 rating in the 19-49 demo and 3.49 million viewers. According to The Hollywood Reporter, So You Think You Can Dance was steady from last week with a 1.1 rating in the key demo.
With a 0.9 rating in the advertiser-important demo and 3.58 million viewers, ABC came last among the four major networks, offering only a new episode of Motive, which was even at a 0.7 rating.
The CW got a boost on the night from Penn & Teller: Fool Us, which while debuting to only a 0.5 rating, was the best among the network's new summer offerings.
