A jury ruled in favor of San Francisco Giants fan Brian Stow, who was viciously attacked and beaten outside of Dodgers Stadium in 2011.
According to CBSLA, the jury reached its verdict on Wednesday and awarded Stow $18 million in damages and found the Los Angeles Dodgers organization 25 percent responsible for the beating.
The panel of six men and six woman cleared former Dodgers owner Frank McCourt of negligence for the day in question.
The Los Angeles Times noted that the lawsuit, filed on behalf of Stow and his children, accused McCourt of failing to provide proper security and lighting in the parking lot.
The lawsuit said that Stow was repeatedly harassed during the game and the dangerous environment outside the stadium led to the attack.
Stow originally sought $37.5 million for his lifetime care and compensation for lost earnings after he was beaten into a coma and left with brain damage. He spent two years recovering in the hospital.
Stow’s attackers, Dodgers fans Louie Sanchez and Marvin Norwood, were found responsible in a civil case and each pleaded guilty to the assault in February.
