San Francisco 49ers tight end Vernon Davis reported to camp on Wednesday officially ending his holdout.

Niners safety CJ Spillman broke the news via Instagram with a video of Davis being greeted by his teammates in the locker room.

ESPN noted that Davis had previously skipped out on team activities. He did not attend any offseason voluntary workouts and was a no show at last month’s mandatory minicamp.

Prior to his holdout, the Pro-Bowler had been clear that he wanted a new contract, but the team did not seem eager to sign the 30-year-old to another deal. Davis still has two years remaining on his current contract which will pay him $9.1 million in base salary over the next two seasons.

The tight end had a very productive year last season for the team. He had 52 receptions for 13 touchdowns.

Davis’ teammate Alex Boone did not report to camp on Wednesday and may not report anytime soon as he too is staging a holdout for more money. Boone also has two years left on his deal and is scheduled to make $2 million with a roster bonus of $200,000 in 2014 and another $1.2 million in 2015.

It will be interesting to see how Boone’s situation plays out. The 27-year-old is not expected to report to camp unless he gets a new deal and the Niners reportedly do not negotiate contracts with players that do not show up. Perhaps Boone didn't get that memo.
