Although rumors already began swirling that Chris Soules might be the new star of ABC’s The Bachelor instead of Arie Luyendyk, Jr., the network has just confirmed it.

Following a telling tweet from Luyendyk, who appeared on Emily Maynard’s Bachelorette season in 2012, it became clear that Soules would be the new Bachelor.

Considering Soules is a farmer – who appeared on Andi Dorfman’s season – Luyendyk appeared to have broke the news before ABC could.

“I'm not the Bachelor, have fun on the farm people,” he wrote.

The official announcement was made on Good Morning America on Wednesday morning. On the live finale of The Bachelorette, the audience chanted Soules’ name when host Chris Harrison asked who they thought should be the next Bachelor.

“I was humbled, flattered, grateful," he said on GMA. "I was able to tell my parents and my family and they're extremely excited... everybody's been very supportive."

Meanwhile Luyendyk followed up his tweet, “Thanks for the kind words everyone. It wasn't meant to be, and I'm okay with it. Happy I can move forward.”
