Amazon announced on Wednesday that Transparent, a new dark comedy starring Jeffrey Tambor, will premiere late next month, with all 10 episodes available at once.
The online retail giant said that Transparent will be available on Amazon Prime Instant Video on Sept. 26. It will also be available to Prime subscribers in the U.K. on the same day.
Transparent centers on the Pfeffermans, a Los Angeles family that finally finally deals with their secrets. Tambor (Arrested Development) stars as Maura, who was the family patriarch as Mort. When she comes out to her family, the secrets start coming out.
Judith Light (Dallas) plays Shelly, Maura’s ex-wife. Their children are played by Jay Duplass, Amy Landecker and Gaby Hoffmann. Carrie Brownstein, Bradley Whitford, Melora Hardin, Alexandra Billings, Kathryn Hahn and Rob Huebel make up the recurring cast.
The series was created by acclaimed Six Feet Under writer Jill Soloway, who also won the Sundance Best Director prize for her 2013 film, Afternoon Delight.
“I am beyond excited to share Transparent with the world through Amazon. They’ve been so supportive through this incredible process,” Soloway said in a statement. “Artistically, it’s been a dream come true. I absolutely got to make the show I wanted to make.”
The first episode is currently available to Prime members.
