Quarterback Andy Dalton has received a six-year contract extension from the Cincinnati Bengals. His new contract states he will earn $115 million until the year 2020.
Based on bonuses and other special perks in Dalton’s contract, he will receive $22 million in the first six months of his deal, sources tell ESPN.
Offensive coordinator of the Bengals Hue Jackson has given Dalton high praise. Jackson has very high hopes for Dalton after evaluating his training camp performance thus far.
"I've been very pleased with where he is and where he's headed," Jackson stated.
According to CBS Sports, some people do not believe in Dalton’s star potential because he has not been that successful in the playoffs in his young career. In three straight playoff appearances, Cincinnati has not won a playoff game with Dalton running the show.
The organization has won 10 games twice in the past three seasons with Dalton being the quarterback. In order to have respect as one of the elite quarterbacks in the NFL, winning playoff games is essential to earning an elite title.
A Super Bowl ring is what all players strive for, and the Bengals want Dalton to be the quarterback to lead them to the promise land.
