Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, easily the most famous celebrity couple in the world, finally got married this weekend. The two tied the knot in France on Saturday.
A spokesman for the couple confirmed the news to the Associated Press. They got married in Chateau Miraval, France at a small chapel with only friends and family in attendance.
They got their marriage licence from a California judge, who did conduct the ceremony in France.
Although Pitt and Jolie have been together for several years, following their roles in Mr. and Mrs. Smith, and even adopted children together, they did not get engaged until April 2012.
Since then, there had been several rumors that the couple had secretly married. Back in October, it appeared that Jolie was wearing a gold wedding band, then there was a rumor in January that they got married on Christmas day.
According to the AP report, Jolie and Pitt’s children did take part in the ceremony. Maddox and Pax walked the aisle with their mother and Zahara and Vivienne threw petals. Shiloh and Knox were the ring bearers.
Jolie was last seen in Maleficent and Pitt will be in the upcoming World War II drama Fury. The couple will work together on By The Sea, their first movie together since Mr. And Mrs. Smith. Jolie is directing.
