Could it be possible that the Teen Choice Awards are rigged? The producers of the annual event came under fire on Twitter when a few TCA hopefuls did not win and seemed to spill their secrets.
The backlash started when the Choice Web Star: Male award winner was revealed as YouTube personality Tyler Oakley and Cameron Dallas angrily tweeted “he already knew” he was the winner.
His tweets are now deleted, but he wrote “It’s funny how they told me I won the viner award 6 days before the voting ended and made the runners up still vote to tweet for them.” He also wrote of Oakley, “he already knew he was going to win that’s why he didn’t promote and that’s why he didn’t seem surprised.”
Washington Post reports the hashtag #TeensDontHaveaChoiceAwards was created, which became a platform for angry reviewers to voice their frustrations.

Another Vine star Matt Espinosa, tweeted then deleted his belief that the award show is rigged. “Basically they picked the people almost 6 days before voting was done and used all of us for promotion,” he wrote.
Fox News reports a screenshot of the disclaimer shown after the awards show suggesting the winners are not entirely based upon fans’ votes also has teens fuming.
“Winners for the Teen Choice Awards are determined using the votes cast on the Site,” it reads, “Votes are tabulated electronically and winners are determined based on the nominees in each category with the highest number of eligible votes. Teenasaurus Rox reserves the right to choose the winner from the top four vote generators.”
This disclaimer was actually pointed out last year, but it didn’t get the outcry from Twitter users until this year likely because of Dallas and Espinosa's tweets.
