Anwan Glover, an actor who stars as Slim Charles on The Wire,” was stabbed Sunday morning at Café Asia, a nightclub in Washington D.C..

Glover explained to the police that a stranger punched him and then another unknown person hit him on the back of his head. He was knocked to the floor, kicked numerous times, and then stabbed with a knife in the right side of his torso, according to the police report obtained by the Washington Post.

The 41-year-old was taken to Washington University Hospital, where he was treated for the injury. He is still there being monitored and undergoing tests, reported TMZ.

The assault was the second one of the morning at Café Asia, but the police do not believe the incidents to be connected in any way.

Glover is an avid anti-violence activist who has taken part in several campaigns. He has opened up about his own experience with violence, which includes having been shot 13 times while growing up in Columbia Heights.
The actor recently had a role in the Oscar winning movie 12 Years a Slave.
