It’s not every day that a celebrity admits that their parents once thought she was going to be a serial killer, but that’s exactly what Ariana Grande did in her latest interview.

While speaking with Billboard magazine, the “Bang Bang” singer talked about her unique childhood. Apparently, the 21-year-old thinks that she was like a mini-Helena Bonham Carter.

“Dark and deranged,” she said about her childhood in Boca Raton, Florida. “I always wanted to have skeleton face paint on or be wearing a Freddy Krueger mask, and I would carry a hockey stick around. I was like a mini-Helena Bonham Carter.”

Her fifth birthday theme song was the Jaws theme, which left her friends in tears. All that darkness meant that her mother thought she would become a serial killer.

“I mean, I still am that way,” Grande said. “But when I was little it was more concerning. There was a stage, when I was 3 or 4, where my mom thought I might grow up to be a serial killer.”

Thankfully for her fans, Grande decided to get into music and became a Nickelodeon star. She’s scored hits with “Break Free” and “Problem” with Iggy Azalea. She just unleashed “Bang Bang,” which also features Jessie J and Nicki Minaj.

The Billboard story also reveals that Grande is a perfectionist and a self-described “obsessive-compulsive workaholic.”

Grande also isn’t afraid to confront people on social media. As we found out this week, she defended her brother Frankie after someone used a homophobic slur to insult him. “That ‘homo’ is the fiercest, most incredible, funniest, most intelligent, kind hearted and most LOVED person on the face of the planet!” she wrote in response.
