NBC bought a comedy project from Bates Motel star Freddie Highmore and series co-showrunner Kerry Ehrin.
The series will be a single camera romantic drama that follows the relationship between a talented, but emotional female executive and her assistant, who is hard-working, but eccentric, Variety reports. The half-hour series does not yet have a title and it isn't known if Highmore will appear on-camera.
He will executive produce, alongside Ehrin, if the series should go forward at NBC. The pair conceived the idea while at the Critics Choice Awards.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, this project marks Highmore's first pilot script credit. He currently stars in the Psycho prequel series on A&E and recently graduated from Cambridge University.
Ehrin recently also had a project with CBS, which made it to a pilot, but ultimately was not picked up. She also has worked on Parenthood, Moonlighting and Friday Night Lights in addition to working on Bates Motel with Carlton Cuse.
