E! Online notes Brown spent the whole day paying tribute to her mom, retweeting fans’ birthday wishes for her and messages recognizing her strength.
“I thank God everyday 4the blessings he's set upon me. Feeling #STRONG in my own shoes,” she wrote. “Journeying alone, Feeling more comfortable then ever.”
She has since mended her rocky relationship with her father, Bobby Brown, spending this past Father’s Day with him.
Brown married her adoptive brother, Nick Gordon, back in January, although Houston never officially adopted him.
Houston died at the age of 48 at a hotel in Beverly Hills on Feb. 11, 2012.
