Now that the cat is out of the bag, more details about Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie’s secret wedding from last weekend are surfacing. Sources have broken a vow of silence and are now talking about how it came together.

Early this morning, a rep for the stars told the Associated Press that the couple tied the knot back on Saturday in France. All six of their children took part on the ceremony, which was nine years in the making and came two years after they announced their engagement.

According to sources for E! News, the wedding was planned so that it would take place before Jolie begins filming a new movie in Europe. The wedding took place between pre-production and when the cameras began rolling in Malta.

“They always wanted to have this wedding at the chapel at Miraval. That is their family home, it is where the children and them are at their happiest,” a source told E! of the location. “There was never a question of this ceremony taking place anywhere else.”

They also purposefully got married during the weekend just before the Emmys on Monday. Many of their celebrity friends, including Julia Roberts, were in Hollywood for that ceremony. George Clooney wasn’t even there because he was in Italy to make a commercial. This all worked to keep magazines from getting pictures of celebrities gathering in France.

Another person who wasn’t there was Jolie’s father, Jon Voight. He made it to the Emmys (he was nominated for Ray Donovan) and TMZ claims that he wasn’t invited. However, Pitt’s entire family was there.

Clooney later told E! News about the wedding news, “How great is that?! I'm really happy for Brad and Angie and their whole family.”
