Next summer, there shall be no hard feelings in Green Bay. The long time home of the storied Packers franchise will retire quarterback Brett Favre’s number 4 jersey, despite the 3-time MVP’s decision to spend two seasons slinging the football for the division rival Minnesota Vikings.

While fans were outraged at the time, it is rather easy to forgive this transgression when the Packer’s faithful think about the 11 playoff appearances, two Super Bowls, and one championship that he took the team to over the years, according to statistics compiled by OfficialBrettFavre.com.
According to ESPN.com Green Bay will also induct Favre into their Hall of Fame, and one could argue that their is no way that the 44-year-old doesn’t deserve to a spot there (not to mention the league-wide Hall Of Fame some day), as he is the Packers all-time leader in passing yards, TDs, and completions. He leads second-place in all of these categories by an exceptionally wide margin (two out of three of which are ironically held by Favre’s successor, current signal-caller Aaron Rodgers).
Favre is very grateful and obviously very touched by the Packers decision to honor him in this manner.
"It was a tremendous honor to play 16 years for the Green Bay Packers,” the quarterback said in the statement. “Now to have my name placed among others such as Starr, Hornung, Kramer, Taylor, Lambeau, Nitschke, Lombardi, Davis, White and Hutson is a special honor that I share with all of my teammates and coaches, and that would not have been possible but for the foresight of Ron Wolf, the greatest GM in the history of the NFL."
Though Favre’s history with the team was rocky at parts, it is no doubt good to see him make peace with the franchise that he called home for 16 years of his illustrious career. Welcome home, Brett.
