Just one day after losing the loveable actor Robin Williams, Hollywood is mourning the loss of classic Hollywood actress Lauren Bacall, who passed away at the age of 89.

As previously reported, Bacall, known for her roles in To Have and Have Not and The Big Sleep passed away today after suffering from a stroke. The actress was born in September of 1924 with the given name of Betty Joan Perske. Originally wanting to be a dancer, she decided to study acting and her first role was in the 1944 film To Have and Have Not, which she starred in alongside her future husband, actor Humphrey Bogart.

After the death of her husband in 1957, Bacall starred in The Gift of Love with Robert Stack. She took a break from films before returning to the big screen and she would later land a part in the 1974 film Murder on the Orient Express. With her sultry looks and husky voice, Bacall was a natural talent and one of the classic beauties from old Hollywood. She leaves behind a legacy to be admired as one of the timeless ladies of Hollywood, such as Ingrid Bergman and Marilyn Monroe.

The passing of Bacall has left many celebrities saddened and many took to Twitter to give their condolences, referring to her status as one of the legends of cinema’s golden age and honoring the legacy she leaves behind.
