Chelsea Clinton has announced she’s stepping down from her role on NBC News as a Special Correspondent. Clinton and her husband, Marc Mezvinsky, are currently expecting their first child.
In a statement posted to Facebook on Friday, the former First Daughter called it a “privilege” to have been part of the NBC News team and shared she is "profoundly grateful” for the positive feedback from viewers on the “Making a Difference” segment. She first joined the network in 2011.
"I admire the work and dedication that their reporters, producers, crews, editors and studio teams deliver every day, particularly as I personally experienced through the stewardship of Brian Williams at Nightly News and Rock Center,” she said, E! Online reports.
Her Facebook post also noted she will continue on with her work on the Clinton Foundation as she prepares to become a first-time mom.
According to Daily News, Clinton made $600,000 for her work with the network. Her last segment aired on Aug. 1.
