The National Football League has upheld Cleveland Browns wide receiver Josh Gordon’s year-long suspension for violating the NFL’s substance abuse program.

Gordon was facing the suspension after testing positive for marijuana during the offseason, as we previously reported.

Gordon led the NFL in receiving yards with 1,646 in 14 games last season, according to the NFL.com.

Gordon was appealing the NFL’s decision and has been able to participate in the Browns training camp. He will not be able to apply for reinstatement for 365 days. He will have ask commissioner Roger Goodell to reinstate him, according to USA Today.

Gordon released a statement through the NFL Players Association apologizing to his teammates and organization, but also saying he was not happy with the NFL’s decision.

“I would like to sincerely thank the people who have been incredibly supportive of me during the challenging time, including my family, my agent, my union, my legal team, and the Cleveland Browns staff.”

This would have been Gordon’s third season in the NFL. In his first two season, he has a combined 2,451 receiving yards and 14 touchdowns, according to NFL Stats.
