Colorado State University gave football coach Jim McElwain, women’s basketball coach Ryun Williams, and volleyball coach Tom Hilbert contract extensions on Monday.
McElwain is entering his third season with Colorado State. His new deal is for five-years. The new deal means that he is signed through 2018. McElwian’s base salary increases from $1.35 million to $1.5 million, and his buyout goes to $7.5 million, according to the Denver Post.
Hilbert is now signed through 2018. He will have a base salary of $200,000, which makes him one of the ten highest paid college volleyball coaches in the country. Colorado State had a successful volleyball season last year. They had a .996 winning percentage, won the Mountain West championship for the fifth straight year, and made their 19th appearance in the NCAA tournament last year.
Williams will have a base salary of $215,000 a year. The initial buyout of Williams’ deal is $1.075 million. He is now signed through the 2019-20 season. However the final five years have one-year options.
McElwain has a good year last year. He led Colorado State to an 8-6 record, which includes a win against Washington State in the New Mexico Bowl, according to USA Today. It was the most wins in a season for Colorado State since 2002 and their first bowl appearance since 2008.
