Reality television shows are notorious for their obvious titles, but for some they might be difficult to understand. For example, one cast member of Vh1’s Dating Naked must not have thought that she would actually be shown naked on television. And when she found that she was, she decided to - what else - file a lawsuit.
Jessie Nizewitz, 28, says that her crotch was not blurred out during an episode of the show, which was taped back in May. According to the New York Post, the episode featured Nizewitz doing a wrestling move and during the scene, her privates weren’t blurred out, even though the show didn’t air until the end of July. In the $10 million lawsuit, she claims that producers pressured her into performing the move.
The lawsuit was filed in Manhattan be her lawyer, Matthew Blit. After the show aired, she claims that she was bullied on social media.
“I felt lied to, manipulated and used. I was horrified,” Nizewitz told the Post. “I immediately started getting text messages. Everyone saw it.”
She added that her parents are “just annoyed” and her grandmother didn’t talk to her last week.
Nizewitz thinks the network owes her an apology and, obviously, a lot of money.
The plaintiffs are Vh1’s parent company Viacom and show producers Firelight Entertainment and Lighthearted Entertainment.
Dating Naked is part of a wave of nudity reality shows on basic cable that feature privates blurred. The Discovery Channel has had success with Naked and Afraid.
According to Entertainment Weekly, Dating Naked averages just 800,000 viewers a week.
