Denver Broncos LB Danny Trevathan breaks knee, out 6-8 weeks

Denver Broncos linebacker Danny Trevathan will be out six to eight weeks after breaking his leg right below his knee.

According to the Denver Broncos, Trevathan was curt off the field during a practice Tuesday morning.

The Broncos are projecting that Trevathan will return either week five at Arizona Cardinals or week six at the New York Jets; the Broncos bye week is week 4.

Trevathan told an ESPN reporter “they told me that my ACL and MCL are fine, but that I have a fracture in my knee,” he said. “The doctor told me I was going to be out four to eight weeks, but I told him four to six. I’m not tripping. I will bounce back. I’m a soldier.”

Trevathan was the Broncos leading tackler last season with 124 combined tackles.

Linebacker Brandon Marshall will take over Trevathan’s spot as the starting weak side linebacker.

Trevathan was a sixth round pick by the Broncos in the 2012 NFL draft. He has 162 combined tackles, 3.0 sacks and three interceptions in his career.
