A year after Showtime’s Dexter wrapped, Michael C. Hall seems to have finally found a new television role. He has been cast as the lead in God Fearing Man, an unproduced screenplay by Stanley Kubrick that Entertainment One is working on.

The casting was first reported on Tuesday by The Hollywood Reporter. Hall would play Herbert Emerson Wilson, a Canadian politician who became a successful bank robber in 20th Century America. eOne began work on it in 2012 and is still looking for a network interested. With an Emmy nominee now attached, that shouldn’t be a problem.

PhilcoFilms' Steve Lanning is producing with eOne and Kubrick collaborator Philip Hobbs.

“We cannot be more pleased to have Michael on board, who has time and again demonstrated an uncanny ability to portray captivating characters who must grapple with fundamental internal struggles,” Michael Rosenberg, eOne Television’s exec vp U.S. scripted television, said in a statement.

Since finishing up Dexter, Hall has worked on Broadway in The Real Joneses and also made the indie film Cold in July. He has left the door open for a Dexter spin-off, but has said that playing the part of a serial killer again would be “daunting to consider.”

God Fearing Man isn’t the only unproduced Kubrick project in the works. The late director’s Napoleon has been in development at HBO for some time now. While Baz Luhrmann surfaced as a possible director for that, there has been no news since last fall.
