Los Angeles Dodgers’ starting pitcher Josh Beckett has been placed on the 15-day disabled list with a left hip impingement.

This is not the first time Beckett will be missing time with this injury. He was also on the DL last month with a left hip impingement. In his few starts since then, he has struggled.
Adding to the situation is a strained groin, which was revealed in an MRI.
While these problems are proof for concern for the Dodgers, they hope that he will bounce back the way fellow starter Clayton Kershaw did two years ago (when he faced a similar injury). Kershaw, who had a hip flexor injury, went 12 days in between starts.
"I'm hoping that's the case; it's the same area, it's the same thing Clayton was feeling," Dodgers’ manager Don Mattingly said, reports ESPN Chicago. "They both talked about the hip things. It makes a little bit of sense, so I'm hoping that's why they're talking about the 10 days, two weeks of rest, and then starting the progression."
Beckett is having one of his best seasons of recent years. He has a 2.88 ERA with 107 strikeouts and a 6-6 record in 20 starts. His ERA is his lowest since 2011, when he posted a 2.89 ERA and a 13-7 record, according to baseball-reference.com .
