While he might not have been able to play Spider-Man on the big screen, yet anyway, he is getting the chance to voice the current comic-book version of Ultimate Spider-Man, Miles Morales.
Glover, who is the inspiration for the character who currently has his own Marvel comic run, will voice the character in the upcoming season of Disney XD's Ultimate Spider-Man: Web Warriors, USA Today, who has an exclusive clip, reports.
In the upcoming series, Peter Parker will end up visiting parallel worlds and runs across Morales, who is half-Black, half-Hispanic, and initially believes he is one of his alternate versions in the multi-episode "Spider-Verse" arc.
The character was introduced into the comics back in 2011 by Brian Michael Bendis, who was inspired after seeing the campaign to land the Community alum in the Amazing Spider-Man role, which eventually went to Andrew Garfield. E! News notes that even Spider-Man co-creator Stan Lee was in support of Glover at least getting a chance to audition to play the character.
"I don't think it's hit me necessarily yet how big of a deal that is," the 30-year-old actor/rapper said of the character. "I'm very grateful for that, and it's cool to read the comic now."
Ultimate Spider-Man: Web Warriors returns to Disney XD on Sunday. Unfortunately Miles Morales doesn't make his appearance until next year.
