Manchester City has given a new four-year contract to forward Edin Dzeko. Dzeko only had 10 months remaining on his contract with City before signing the new deal, which will keep him with the club until 2018.

Dzeko has been a prolific scorer for the reigning Premier League champions, having scored 66 times since joining City in 2010, according to BBC.
The extension is exactly what the Bosnia and Herzegovinan international wanted. "I knew from the beginning when I started here that I wanted to stay for a long time,” said Dzeko. “I can't see any place better than here."
Dzeko is not the only player who has committed to staying with City for the long-term. Sergio Aguero , Samir Nasri, Aleksandar Kolarov, Vincent Kompany and David Silva have all signed deals that will keep City in title contention for years to come, notes BBC.
Dzeko is already a part of Manchester City history, having scored in the last game of the 2011-2012 season against Crystal Palace, which was crucial in City winning their first Premier League title in 44 years, notes notes FIFA.
Dzeko, 28, was the captain of Bosnia and Herzegovina during this summer’s World Cup, where he scored the opening goal in their 3-1 victory over Iran, which was the nation’s first ever World Cup victory.
With his future secured, Dzeko can focus on trying to help city become the first team to repeat as Premier League Champions since their rivals, Manchester United, won three straight from 2007 to 2009.
