Miami-based sports writer and radio host Dan Le Batard has been suspended by ESPN for his LeBron James billboard stunt. Le Batard bought billboards around Cleveland to remind James that he won his two NBA Championships in Miami and that fans there did support him, in case he forgot.

The billboards read “You’re welcome LeBron” in annoying Comic Sans and “Love, Miami.” He also included images of James’ two Heat rings.

According to USA Today, Le Batard has talked publicly about ways to crash James’ homecoming, especially since James forgot to thank Heat fans in his now-famous letter announcing his plans to head back to Ohio. Le Batard thought about a newspaper ad, but then decided that the billboard would be the cooler way to go about it.

ESPN wasn’t happy about it, and suspended Le Batard from the air on Thursday and Friday. He will be back on Monday, though.

“His recent stunt does not reflect ESPN’s standards and brand. Additionally, we were not made aware of his plans in advance,” the network said.

“I guess ESPN didn’t find it all quite as funny as I did,” Le Batard told The Miami Herald’s Greg Cote.

Le Batard said that this was really just meant as a fun joke. “Sports are so great, the more irrational the better. This is a publicity stunt disguised as a movement … It’s just fun anarchy,” he told the Herald.
